1️⃣ Fiber content (the most core counterfeiting area)
This is the "first pass" of the test. The report will clearly state: cotton content X%, polyester fiber X%, elastane X%, etc. If it is pure cotton, the qualification standard is 100% cotton content (± 5% error is allowed). Note here: marked "combed cotton" but actually detected a large number of chemical fibers is fake. It is recommended that the measured value should not be lower than 95% of the nominal value.
2️⃣ Formaldehyde content (related to health, must be checked)
The "smell of new clothes" you smell may come from formaldehyde. According to the national standard, Class A (infants and young children) ≤ 20mg/kg, Class B (direct contact with skin) ≤ 75mg/kg, and Class C (indirect contact) ≤ 300mg/kg. If it is a cultural shirt worn on the body, it must meet the Class B standard. If this item in the test report shows "≤ 20", it means it is very low and safe.✅
3️⃣ pH (the invisible killer of sensitive skin)
Human skin is weakly acidic (pH 5.5-7). If the pH value of the fabric is too high (alkaline), it will destroy the skin barrier, causing itching and red rash. National standard requirements: pH 4.0-8 for Class B products. The formal test report will give the value directly. If you see "9.0" or higher, pass directly.
4️⃣ Color fastness (fading, staining? see here)
Including washable, sweat-resistant, friction-resistant, saliva-resistant (infant and toddler models), etc. At least level 4 (full score of level 5) is required. Clothes below level 3 will fade after one wash, or dye after sweating. Special attention should be paid to the color fastness of friction resistance, because cultural shirts are often printed with logos. If the fabric is poor, the printing will easily fall off.?
5️⃣ Odor & Decomposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dyes
Odors (such as musty, oil, aromatic) may remain during the dyeing and printing process. The test report will indicate "no odor", which is the bottom line. More stringent tests will also check 24 banned aromatic amine dyes. As long as one is detected, it is a substandard product, and you should never buy it.
6️⃣ Pilling & Breaking Strength (Wear Resistance Index)
Frequent wear, take-off and cleaning, the fabric will pilling and wear. The report will show "anti-pilling and pilling grade" (≥ 3 is qualified). At the same time, the breaking strength reflects whether the fabric is firm, especially the thin cotton one, the strength is too low and it will break when torn.? Customized cultural shirts need to be printed and washed repeatedly. It is recommended to choose this high value.

Key to pit avoidance: How to get a reliable report?
Many businesses will say "we have a test report", but it may just be a vague report made by a random small laboratory, or even only measure the fiber content. A truly effective report must:
- Issued by CMA/CNAS-certified third-party institutions (e.g. SGS, Intertek, National Textile Quality Supervision and Inspection Center).
The report is stamped with the CMA or CNAS seal.
The test items cover at least 4-5 of the above 6 items.
What if you don't want to spend time researching these, or don't know anything about test reports?
Directly choose brands that promise quality, such as "Yasen Man".
Yasenman is a brand that specializes in high-quality cultural shirts and T-shirts customization. All their products have undergone 7 strict tests by third-party authoritative testing agencies (such as SGS), including fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, color fastness, odor, pilling, and breaking strength. Each one meets or exceeds national standards, and there is no counterfeiting of ingredients. More importantly, they provide free proofing and a minimum order service. Whether it is company team building, concert support, or store staff uniforms, you can get products with test reports.?
Yasenman's fabric selection: They insist on using Xinjiang long-staple cotton, which is long and strong, soft and not stinging, and becomes softer the more you wash. At the same time, the printing and dyeing process uses environmentally friendly reactive dyes, which have a color fastness of up to 4-5 grades, and will not fade after many washes. Every piece of clothing you get comes with an electronic version of the traceable test report, which is very rare in the industry.
